Meet Your Bethlehem Veterinary Hospital Doctors

Dr Defiores

Dr. Lucas DeFiores DVM

Dr. Lucas grew up in Hudson Valley, NY, where he spent time routinely caring for his family's pets, giving riding lessons on the local horse farm, and helping on his friend's dairy farm. His love of horses and their care drove him into veterinary medicine. After graduating in 2016 from Cornell University Veterinary School, Dr. Lucas worked as a production animal veterinarian in rural Pennsylvania and upstate New York. After several years of large animal work, Dr. Lucas hung up his coveralls to begin working with his wife in a small animal hospital, where his love and passion for companion animal surgery and preventative care developed. Having now moved into the Capital Region, he is very excited to begin working with his wife yet again while enjoying their 3 dogs, red-eared slider, and reef tank dedicated to their clown fish and corals. Outside of his pets, Dr. Lucas enjoys woodworking, snowboarding, any opportunity to get out on the water, and traveling to new places.

Dr. Natasja

Dr. Natasja DeFiores DVM

Originally from Binghamton, NY, Dr. Natasja had a strong love and appreciation for companion animals and the human-animal bond from a young age. It was her dream from childhood to one day become a Veterinarian and provide care for animals in need. After an undergraduate program at Cornell University in Biology, she joined the Peace Corps and spent several months living and volunteering in Namibia in Sub-Saharan Africa. She loved her time in Namibia so much that she returned for a Summer during Vet school to work with cheetahs at the Cheetah Conservation Fund. While she loves all animals, dogs and cats are her biggest joy and she decided to pursue companion animal care. After graduating from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018, she relocated with her husband and dogs (two Pit Bulls and one little Beagle!) to the Capital District. A move in 2023 brought her closer to Albany and she is so excited to explore the area and make it her home. Her hobbies include gardening, playing with her dogs, and traveling the world with her husband.

The vets at this location are amazing - comprehensive, thorough, and clear. Would love to give this place 5 stars, but... the scheduling is horrendous - in my two visits here so far, it was well over 30 minutes until my pet was seen after the scheduled appointment time.UPDATE: Since post-pandemic, this vet has been amazing with scheduling. As such, correcting/updating my review to 5 stars.read more

Came with an emergency, a dog with a seizure. We were turned away! What kind of a "hospital" does this? Very rude and... without compassion. Outrageous.read more

Dr. Kearney and the team at Beth Vet are awesome! They've cared for all four of my dogs from the moment I've gotten... them as puppies until they pass at ripe old age. Dr. K takes time to explain the science behind his decisions and makes me a better, smarter, dog mom. He's brilliant, stays up on the latest trials, keeps his team engaged, runs a tight ship, kisses my babies on their faces, and manages all my nervousness too! We've dealt with so much together...from trauma, to surgeries, diseases, and everyday checkups...and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I trust this team with my family and you can too!read more

Vet staff is amazing. They still lock their doors and make you wait in your car which isn’t always ideal. But the staff... and care is awesomeread more

I started going to this vet during Covid when my original vet was completely booked and could not get my new puppy in.... The staff and doctors were great and super friendly to my dogs but when I decided to switch veterinarian offices due to personal reasons (nothing to do with the vet itself) it has been like pulling teeth to get my dogs vaccine/vet records. I have called approximately 4 or 5 times and each time the receptionist tells me they will fax me the information but never do and seem to have an attitude every time I call. It is insane, extremely aggravating and unprofessional. My one dog is completely blind and his records are very important for future appointments with his vet. If you do business with them they are great, but if you decide to go elsewhere they are petty and rude.read more

Amazing office, staff, and vet's. Both vets have provided exceptional service to us with several dogs. They are always... available within a reasonable timeframe, loving to the dogs, and genuinely care about their patients and families. Their knowledge is as deep as their kindness. This is not a job, it is their passion.read more

John and Elaine are among the kindest and most caring people I've ever met. They love animals so much and have always... treated my pets like they were their own pets, and make compassion such a priority. They're phenomenal doctors, and so trustworthy. All of their staff are equally kind and caring as well. In good times and in bad times, they are just the best veterinarians you could ask for, period.read more

I was 10 minutes late for my appointment, received a call as I was pulling in and was told because I was late I would... need to reschedule. But wait, on multiple occasions I have sat in the parking lot waiting for my pup to be seen, on one occasion it was almost 45 minutes. Now listen I was late and admit it, but my dog was getting a tech appointment for a couple shots, not seeing the doctor. But I have to reschedule? Nope not when I sit in my car and wait way past my appointment time. I asked for my pups records and will find another vet. Love the doctor and the techs but please find someone who can run the desk. You lost a loyal customer and pup friend today and that is your office helps fault.read more

It's ok, they take your payment faster than the care of your fur baby and I absolutely did not like that.

We took our cats here for years, and the staff are so professional and care about every furry client that comes through... their door. They will explore all options to help your pet live as long and healthy a life as possible, and also show the utmost compassion when it's time to say goodbye. With their help, our cat saw 20 happy years in our family. Thank you!read more
